Official Launch: Mamma Africa Educast

"An investigation of all things business and communication" is the description of the Mamma Africa Educast. Short and sweet - kind of rings like the description of a startup.

If the educational podcast had a soundtrack it would be Sam Cooke, a man who captured the soul of his era through music and words with a deep care for humanity. A man who lost his life at the age of 33, around the time that he had started speaking out against injustices.

You will hear the same undertone in the line of questioning in this podcast - a deep concern for the control of data, laws which conceal names of shareholders (especially in European states), monopolists and their friends running communications companies like cowboys, and agenda setters of mass media, including content creators. I believe that the tit-for-tat philosophy which drives capitalists' sense of purpose proves to be empty and contrary to the level of value creation required to innovate in today's landscape. Adopting this game theory practice will only lead to the financier's own demise.

However, you will also hear an important focus on finance as an instrument for change emerge from the conversations in this educast. While investigative journalists work relentlessly to bring darkness to light, keep lunatics in check, instigate changing laws, and bring necessary conversations to the public, decision makers of balance sheets are essential for upholding values in society.

Series 1: A Dialectical Engagement

We start by looking at two extreme ends of the spectrum - innovation and charity. The one focuses on creating value at the highest level, and the other picks up the pieces of the brokenness of humanity. I think the two need to work together if we really want to have a positive impact. Let's not throw around the word 'impact' too freely.

Series 2: Soft Landing

Maybe we do need to learn to be more soft in a time where service providers of soft skills have a serious issue with the word. Sometimes we need to fly above the noise to avoid being infected by it. But at some point, every bird needs to return back to the ground for sustenance. The second part of this educast returns to its true purpose softly through dialogue with those working in the creative and humanitarian fields of edtech, music, leadership development, coaching and media.

Whilst my primary goal is to help individuals and organizations improve their cohesion, performance and growth through public speaking, this educast is an elaboration of my ethos: tell stories that shape the world. If you're going to invest in your speech, know that it takes constant self-awareness, human skills, evaluating values, and a genuine care for others.
